This is the story of the 1984 riots and the effect it has on an obscure Sikh couple, Lajo and Kujlit. Kuljit is brutally murdered by the mob and Lajo, pregnant with her Hindu landlord’s child picks up the pieces of her life in Vidhwa Colony, a ghetto for the 1984 riots widows. In this environment of anger and hate, her son grows up with a warped sense of right and wrong.
